When do people stop being kind?
I’m trying to reflect on when it all changed for me.
Earlier in my life, I gave my best self to others without needing anything back.
When did I stop going out of my way to be as kind?
For Random Acts of Kindness Day, I’m trying to make a conscious effort to care for others, starting with being much kinder to myself.
Early last year, as the pandemic wiped out my independent business, I started handing resumes out again after 5 years of being my own boss. After rounds of interviews and a couple of false starts with companies, I landed a job with the place I’m at now: Kambeo. We went by a different name back then, and today we’re a completely different product.
Put simply, it’s a place where good people can do good.
In my role, I get to find the people and organizations that would benefit most from us.
And I get to be a part of helping make sure great causes get the support they deserve.
I think being exposed to so many people wanting to do good and making positive changes has helped bring me back to my kinder days. It has helped me become a less selfish and more empathetic person.
Acts of Kindness Day / Random Acts of Kindness Day Week
Random Acts of Kindness is a global initiative, and anyone can and should get involved to make a positive difference in our communities. People could volunteer to shovel a driveway, pick up groceries or buy a coffee for someone. Or team up with a charity and fundraise on their behalf.
Paying it forward makes the person paying feel good. But more importantly, it makes the person being helped feel appreciative, special, valued, and important. It’s truly amazing how it works.
Random Acts of Kindness day is February 17th.
It’s a day dedicated to kindness and inspires people to go above and beyond to brighten somebody’s life.
If you’re looking for some extra ways to be kind, here are 50 random acts of kindness.
